Christmas Time In Sydney!

Experiencing a Summer Christmas

Remember when I told you about visiting a Christmas market in July? This time it was actually Christmas time in Sydney and I got to experience a different kind of celebration. I’m a huge fan of Christmas. So first, I was thinking should I go and spend my Christmas with my family and friends in Finland. Christmas time is special for us and even when my family members are all around Finland, we make the time to spend time during Christmas time. Usually, Christmas for me is about spending time with family and having all the Finnish traditions. Still, I feel happy I stayed and had this amazing experience of Christmas time in Sydney. It’s such a different atmosphere. Instead of being cold, dark and lots of snow outside it’s sunny, hot and sandy! because spending time at the beach haha.

How did I get the feeling of christmas

When it turned to December, I didn’t feel that Christmas is coming, not at all! Slowly my Christmas spirit showed up and it started to feel like Christmas is just around the corner. I was listening to Christmas songs while going somewhere by walk or bus. I just don’t get tired of the Christmas album of Michael Buble. Also admiring all the Christmas decorations around the city and being amazed by the lights felt even more special when they played Christmas carols. Talking about Christmas is such a good way to wake up your spirit! It gets you to think about all the aspects you enjoy about it (or all the things you hate, it’s your choice). So I asked quite many times how people are feeling about Christmas and got excited to hear them having plans and also sharing my point of view. I have always been thinking that I need snow to feel the spirit but I guess I was wrong. Of course it’s not 100% same but still, I managed to have a feeling of Christmas in such a different environment which was nice.

Enjoying the holidays & christmas time in sydney

When my holidays started, I went to see The Lights Of Christmas, which was held at St Mary’s Cathedral Square. It was a last minute decision of me going there and so glad I did it! There was a lot of people sitting and enjoying the event but still not too crowded. Maybe for the reason that it was already so late when I got there. At that moment, after a long day, it just felt a perfect way to end the day and start my Christmas holidays. The next day I spent my Christmas Eve with people all around the world, having dinner and sharing different traditions. I’m always keen to hear about other cultures. On Christmas Day my lovely friend had a birthday so we had a double celebration at Milk beach. Such a great group of people, good music and having fun dancing while DJ was playing. Definitely different Christmas this year but no words to describe how I enjoyed this holiday season!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas 2018!

We just got to Sydney a few days ago, and we are loving it! Our first “Instagram picture” was in front of that Christmas tree you featured! We got to see it the day before they tore it down. Saw your blog in the GLT travel group and wanted to show you some love!
